Sergei de Jonge Guitar Classical / Bearclaw Sitkaspruce 2010

 4.975

This classical guitar with a Sitka spruce bearclaw top by Sergei de Jonge was built in 2010 in Chelsea, Quebec, Canada, where his workshop and school are located.

Having studied guitar making in Toronto from 1969 to 1971 with Jean Larrivee and Edgar Monch through Eli Kassner, and then spent a year with Patt Lister in Collingwood, de Jonge’s classical guitar bears his strong influences, while simultaneously developing his own unique style and building method.

The top is made of lightly figured bearclaw Sitka spruce with a beautiful wooden rosette ring; the sides, back, bridge, and headstock are Indian rosewood; the neck is mahogany; and the fingerboard is ebony. The string rest, nut, and compensated bridge saddle are made of bone. The tuners are professional Gotoh models with marbled knobs.

This beautiful guitar has a very slightly radiused neck, which makes it surprisingly comfortable to play!
Beautiful timbre with deep bass and singing treble, and very balanced.
