Francisco Tarrega ( 1852 )
Francisco Tarrega (1852) was a guitarist and composer from Spain. His father wanted him to study classical guitar and piano, and he mastered both instruments when he was still young. At that time, the piano was still elevated above the guitar.
Tarrega bought a guitar from the famous luthier Antonio Torres and with this instrument he revived the guitar’s reputation in the 19th century. Consequently, the classical, or Spanish guitar, is the world’s best-selling musical instrument and can be seen being played in all kinds of musical styles such as classical, Flamenco, pop, Latin, Jazz, soul, etc. by musicians.
